Flex Team Feature—Jared Marchant

A staff member sharing his appreciation for Jared’s service as a Servant Leader

This newsletter features a Flex team staff member, Jared Marchant. Jared was a Servant Leader in 2021-2022. Since completing his Servant Leader commitment he has joined as short term staff on the Flex Team. Below he shares his perspective of the position.

What is the Flex team?

The Flex team is a new short-term staffing team made up of people who were Servant Leaders previously and desired to continue serving at His Mansion. We serve by being flexible in our time and role. Each Flex team member has a different role as we fill various needs across the ministry. My job consists of teaching class on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and helping lead work crews by assisting in operating machinery such as chainsaws or tractors.

How is the Flex position different from the Servant Leader position?

The biggest difference between Flex and Servant Leader is that I no longer live in the dorm. This is both a pro and a con because it makes rest easier but the separation from life in the dorm is significant. You have a lot more time and space. It’s closer to a normal work schedule but I still try to stay involved in spending time with the Residents.

What are some of the benefits of the Flex staff position?

The aforementioned time and space are a major benefit. I also feel like I’m closer to serving in my gifting, particularly as I teach classes. I love living on “The Hill” and remaining involved in Griggs meals, brothers nights and family nights and other events.

What have you enjoyed about your experience on the Flex team?

I love the opportunity to continue to serve this community as I watch the male Residents grow in their relationship with Christ. It is a privilege to walk alongside them in the classroom as God guides them through their struggles. It’s so great getting to teach, worship, work, and laugh with these men as they earnestly seek the Lord.

They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a fruitful harvest;
He blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased, and He did not let their herds diminish.

Servant Leaders grateful for the new furniture for the AZ Room

Thank you to our partners

Over the past few weeks the Lord has provided for His Mansion’s needs in miraculous ways through generous partners. In February, the Griggs dining hall installed a new walk-in freezer in the basement. The kitchen staff is ecstatic about this update as the previous freezer was located outside.

In January, the Multipurpose Building incurred unexpected damage when a pipe burst from subzero temperatures. This burst resulted in thousands of dollars worth of damage including game room equipment and family room furniture completely destroyed. The Lord provided more than what was needed. Not only were the funds given for the family room furniture and renovations, but the Servant Leaders were also blessed with new couches for their common area, the AZ Room.

Last, through multiple donations His Mansion is able to start construction on the guest housing projects. Until recently, the Chalet has been used as guest accommodations. Due to poor construction and recent weather incidents, this building is no longer functional.

The first step in this project is to renovate and insulate the front of the Long House, which had past weather related damages. This space will be used as housing for the Flex staff. The construction is already underway and it is very exciting to see these changes. Next, the Institute will be renovated into a hotel-style guest accommodation. Last, the Chalet will be replaced with a three- season pavilion, an exciting addition to the property.

Prayer Requests

Below are a few ways to pray for His Mansion:

  • On July 22, His Mansion is hosting a one-day counseling conference with guest speaker Dr. George T. Crabb D.O. Pray for those organizing the conference and that this would be a blessing to those attending. More information regarding attendance to follow.

  • His Mansion is searching for multiple staff positions to be filled. Please pray that the Lord would bring the right people to serve in these roles.

  • As the Resident programs increase in capacity, the need for Servant Leaders also increases. Please pray with us that the Lord would call men and women to serve here.

Praises

It’s important to take a moment and praise the Lord for all He has accomplished at His Mansion. Thank God for:

  • The recent graduates from the Resident program, and the upcoming graduation in May.

  • A full men’s program, until the next graduation.

  • Much needed construction projects are finally underway.

  • Spring is finally arriving on “The Hill.”
